Welcome to Meanderine Farmstay!
Wouter, Marina and children Lenie, Jan & Arkie would like to welcome you to Meanderine Farmstay accommodation which is 40 minutes North of Christchurch International Airport; the gateway to the South Island.
Meanderine Farmstay / Homestay offers a unique opportunity to experience a life with many friendly and interesting animals including 1 ponies, 2 horses, 6 donkeys, 1 poodle & 9 dogs, 4 cats, many ducks & geese, 8 cattle + 1 baby dairy calves, 6 goats, a large variety of birds and 5 pigs. Our farm is a delight for both children and adults to stay and enjoy.
Coming to our farm is an experience you will never forget. It operates mainly on green energy, which is produced by many solar panels which collect energy from the sun, which then charge the batteries for use in our house. Water is heated by a solar water heating system located on the roof, and our wood burner provides central heating which also heats the hot water in Winter. The energy & heating system is highly efficient and is capable of producing as much energy as is needed for a conventional house.
We have a number of recent additions to our farm, including the fenced-in playground that we built for our children Lenie (age 7) and Jan (age 5) and Arkie (age 1). It consists of 2 large climbing play centers with great high views, a sandpit, cubby house, jigger swing, lounge swing (for the adults) five trampolines and a 21.5 meter running course. It's simply amazing and any child is bound to spend hours playing in there. On hot summer days, we start up the sprinkler (heated by the sun) and have a run through the mist.
We pride ourselves on having some of the best meals in town.. Wouter is a fantastic cook and daily hearty roast meals with a large range of colourful vegetables is always on the menu, topped off with a glass of wine for the adults, ice cream for the kiddies (and big kids) and good conversation and laugh around the table. We often have a nice breakfast spread which can including cold dutch meats, local fruit spreads and local juice and delicious lunch can including bacon & fresh farm eggs (when in season). We also have a large variety of local and imported herbal teas and only drink Trade-aid coffee.
The farm offers guests a colourful display of flora each season. The garden highlights of each season include red hot pokers & beautiful roses in Summer, red toadstools & red oak leaves in Autumn, and daffodils, cherry blossom & fragrant yellow flowers of the wattle trees that line our long & winding driveway in late Winter and Spring.
The many friendly animals and lovely views make this an ideal retreat for a relaxed holiday away from home. For many children the stay on our farm has been the highlight of their holiday. While guests are here, you are treated as one of our family.
