Activities
We are currently working on a couple of projects like; first and foremost - raising our young family of three gorgeous children.! Outside of that, and when we have the time, we are growing an edible herb and vegetable garden which is based on no-spray organic principles and which we will harvest for meals when in season, planting an orchard, preserving and drying fruits and building/adding play equipment to our large playground.
Meanderine Farmstay specialise in breeding donkeys, and we also breed a wide variety of other animals including cattle, kittens, ducks, geese, doves, pigeons and about 12 different varieties of rare breed chickens. We have over 500 animals.! Guests are welcome to help with hand feeding our many tame animals. All throughout the year young animals are being born.
Here, you get to share your days with our whole family.! We find families enjoying coming to us to give their children a chance to play with our children, which gives the parents time to chat with us adults or relax. Lenie and Jan are very knowledable about the farm and will readily give you a farm tour and tell you all the stories and rules when being around animals. They are very cute and responsible.!
Your days on the farm can be as busy or as relaxing as you like. Activities for the guests include feeding the animals, use of our scooters and bikes for bike riding, playing in the playground (for the children), use of golf clubs for some on-farm practice or to take to the Rangiora golf club, target shooting (additional cost), star gazing, & getting involved in our farm projects. We also offer one-on-one activities and classes / lessons to enhance your stay. Please see Classes for a list of projects that you can take when booking in your stay, these are optional and in addition to your stay.
Other relaxing things you can do are reading a book from our English and Japanese library, watching DVDs from our very large selection, playing guitar, piano or harmonica, ride one of our bikes, sewing a bag or pillowcase, running under the sprinkler on hot days, taking photos, challenging your hosts or other guests to a game of badminton, sleeping under the canopy of a large tree, using the internet, swinging in our hammock, walking around the area (with a view of the mountains), playing with kittens, puppies or the dogs, playing with our gorgeous children, running, doing chin-ups on our monkey bars, and playing board games or card games. Please let us know what activities you'd like to try when you book in your stay so we can prepare.
All young guests are given a farm journal to fill in each day they are here, with a map of the farm, a picture glossary of the farm animals and tools, pages of farm-inspired games & quotes and a space for photos.
